About Me
As with the best tales, my foray into antiques started by accident. I was previously a doctor ready to return to work now my children are grown. Unfortunately, I tore a disc in my back leaving me in chronic pain and incapacitated. That was just before the first lockdown. Like so many of us during COVID, I started to declutter and sell a few of the vintage ceramics I’ve collected over the years. I've always loved Art Deco pottery and the insomnia from my back injury led to nights browsing antique auctions and voracious background reading about all kinds of antiques and vintage.
My husband persuaded me that my beloved vintage kitchenware could 'perhaps be slimmed down', something any collector can identify with! This is when I found my love for selling antiques, vintage and collectibles. I really enjoyed connecting with other collectors and sending my pieces to their new homes. At a time when the medical advice was to 'keep moving', running my business gave me terrific physical (and mental) rehab.
Thanks to the interventions of a very clever Pain specialist, I am pain free and able to enjoy making this my full time job. I wish I had had the courage to do this years ago; it's been a steep learning curve but terrific fun. My husband and sons are extremely supportive. I doubt they'll ever understand how I can become giddy over a plate or eggcup, but I do appreciate their patience and tolerance when their home is taken over by new inventory. There is always something new to learn - I have enjoyed several courses on Art and Design at Christies Auction House and continue to buy far too many books. I continue to love connecting with my wonderful customers from all over the world and am blessed with their kind feedback and entertaining emails most days.
